Fri, November, 11th 2016
Abuja, F.C.T - The distinguished Senator for Adamawa Central, Abdul-Aziz Nyako embarked on an oversight visit in his capacity as the Chairman, Senate Committee on Special Duties, in company of Sen Kabiru Gaya - Member Of the Committee - and the Director General NEMA, Muhammad Sani Sidi. The trio visited and inspected IDP camps in Maiduguri and Yola to ascertain firsthand their living conditions in terms of welfare, safety and security. This visit was also an opportunity for the Senator to interact with the State Governments and to see the level of implementation of the 2016 Budget by Federal MDAs. Key areas to be addressed are Water and Health by the Ministries of Water Resources and Health respectively in line with the 2016 Budget. It was established that no evidence of abuse by security agencies as reported previously by some organisations was gathered. However, the Committee remains open to any tangible information on this claim. The Senator made it clear to the people that the medium and long term goals for the IDPs is to rebuild and resettle them into their various communities, a task which he is determined to successfully achieve.
